Erica Lee Bates and Christopher Clayton Kenny were united in marriage on May 16, 2009, at Cumberland United Methodist Church in Cumberland.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents, Jeff and Bea Bates of Cumberland.

He is the son of Pat and Ronice Kenny of Granville.

Keith Taylor officiated the double-ring ceremony.

Tara Murphy provided special music for the ceremony.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was Val Wilson, her friend. Bridesmaids were Dena George and Amber Lanning, friends of the bride.

Elena Bell, friend of the bride, served as flower girl.

Guestbook attendants were Ashlee Geese and Lydia McClay.

A reception followed for 160 guests at Viking Enterprise in Cumberland, with Debbie and Lacy Lake hosting.

The new Mrs. Kenny is a 2004 graduate of Meadowbrook High School and a 2008 graduate of Ashland University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in art education. She is a teacher at the middle school and high school of Eastern Local Schools in Brown County.

Her husband is a 2003 graduate of Granville High School and a 2008 graduate of Ashland University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He is a warehouse supervisor for Phantom Fireworks in Amelia.

Following a two-week honeymoon to Ireland, the couple makes their home in Hillsboro.
